Explore Station 22 &
Burringbar Rainforest Nursery

Nestled along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail in the picturesque Village of Burringbar, the Burringbar Rainforest Nursery spans more than an acre of lush botanical gardens showcasing over 2,000 species of Australian native plants, as well as food trees, palms, cycads, ferns and wildflowers. It began with local seed‑collecting and a passion for regenerating the land; today it’s one of Australia’s largest rainforest nurseries, helping gardeners, landscapers and conservationists alike.

Station 22, housed within the adjacent nursery grounds, offers visitors a relaxed spot to pause with pond-side picnic spaces, shady forest nooks and timber decks look out over water and mountains. Station 22 has direct access to the Rail Trail and a short stroll from the historic train tunnel, it’s the perfect stop for cyclists, walkers or anyone keen to reconnect with nature.

The nursery is open Monday to Friday, 9 am–4 pm, and weekends 9 am–2 pm. Located at 380 Burringbar Road, Upper Burringbar, it’s easy to find and bike or drive to with plenty of parking and nursery pathways to stroll. Staff are always on hand for expert advice on native species, garden design or sourcing rare plants .
